The PhD is co-supervised by Dr Francis Hassard (Cranfield University) and Dr Michael Chipps (Thames Water), providing students with access to state-of-the-art facilities and full-scale operational assets. The program includes an industrial placement, specialized training budget, and opportunities to present at international conferences. What's required

Applicants must have a first or second class UK honours degree or equivalent in a related discipline. Suitable backgrounds include environmental, civil, chemical or mechanical engineering, computer science, robotics, microbiology, environmental science, chemistry, physics, or data science. Applicants should be motivated, able to blend hands-on experimentation with advanced analytics, and interested in low-carbon, nature-based solutions for drinking-water treatment. Only home students are eligible for funding, and applicants must have no restrictions on their stay in the UK. Diverse and non-traditional backgrounds are encouraged.
