The Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is seeking a full-time teaching and research assistant for its Centre for Public and Social Law. This position is designed for candidates aiming to pursue a doctoral thesis (PhD) in legal sciences, with a strong emphasis on private law. The research focus includes contract law, property law, law of obligations (including roman law), economic law, family law, private international law, intellectual property, tax law, judicial law, and the notarial profession. Priority will be given to doctoral projects related to contract law, property law, and obligations.

The successful candidate will be integrated into a dynamic research environment, supporting and participating in the Centre's ongoing research activities. In addition to research, the assistant will be actively involved in teaching, managing practical work groups, supervising examinations, and participating in marking. The role also includes broader faculty responsibilities such as exam supervision, attendance at student fairs and open days, and engagement in faculty life.

This full-time assistantship is initially appointed for two years, with the possibility of renewal for up to six years, contingent on satisfactory evaluation. The position is structured to balance research, teaching, and faculty management duties, with regular reviews of responsibilities and teaching load.

Applicants must possess a 120-credit Master's degree in law and meet the requirements for doctoral admission. Excellent command of French is mandatory, while proficiency in English and/or Dutch is highly advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong research aptitude, evidenced by academic achievements, dissertation quality, publications, and scientific activities. Teamwork and the ability to work under supervision on defined research themes are essential.

Teaching duties include a minimum of 120 hours of practical work per academic year, managing at least five groups, and involvement in exam supervision and marking.
