Sunway University is offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Research Assistant to join a biomedical research project focused on the transcriptomic landscape of Malaysian colorectal cancer patients, with a special emphasis on young patients. The project aims to identify diagnostic and prognostic transcriptomic biomarkers for colorectal cancer, analyzing variations by age, sex, ethnicity, metastasis, and tumour differentiation.

The research will be conducted at the Faculty of Medical and Life Sciences, under the guidance of Principal Investigator Prof. Dato' Dr Fitjerald Henry and Site PI Dr Hans Prakash Sathasivam, with a collaborative team including Dr. Ser Hooi Leng, Prof. Raja Affendi Raja Ali, and Prof. Rebecca Wong. The methodology involves RNA extraction and sequencing of tumour and adjacent tissues, mRNA sequencing using the Illumina platform, and bioinformatics analysis utilizing tools such as Tophat, Cufflinks, DAVID, Cytoscape, PCA, and HCA.

This position is ideal for postgraduate students or individuals with a strong research interest in cancer biology, omics studies, molecular biology, and data analysis. The project offers the chance to contribute to impactful cancer research and develop valuable skills in advanced biomedical techniques and bioinformatics.
