About this position

We are still looking for a motivated PhD student for a self-funded PhD opportunity to come work with me and Alan Jones at University of Birmingham School of Pharmacy, School of Health Sciences, University of Birmingham . Our group is now closely collaborating and this project idea is one of many that combines our expertise in molecular biology, pharmacology, and medicinal chemistry. We have proposed a project with strong interdisciplinarity, involving advanced genetic manipulation tools like short-interfering RNA and/or CRISPR-Cas9; and medicinal chemistry pipeline and synthesis workflows. So, we are very keen to hear from people who are wanting to navigate the intersection between biology and chemistry. This project also has broad potential application for cancer , epilepsy , and neurological diseases.

Both myself and Alan are committed mentors. We want to help build your scientific career and support you in achieving your career goals. This project would suit someone from a broad biomedical, medicinal chemistry, neuroscience, cancer biology, or biochemistry background. You would benefit from association with various centers like The Centre for Human Brain Health (CHBH) and Birmingham Centre for Neurogenetics ( https://lnkd.in/eeUGybHR ).
