UWE Bristol Leadership and Change Centre is inviting applications for a fully funded PhDstudentship that explores leadership and organisational change in contexts of complexity and uncertainty, with a focus on healthy and inclusive workplaces. Potential topics include:
?? Leadership and organisational support for maternity leave and motherhood
?? Inclusive entrepreneurship and social value creation in marginalised communities
?? Translating compassionate leadership into ethical action and workplace wellbeing.
We welcome diverse methodological approaches that align with the expertise/interests of academic staff and the UWE Bristol RISE agenda.
Applicants should hold a 2:1 or above in a relevant discipline and preferably a Masters degree. The studentship includes a tax-free stipend of over £20k per annum and full tuition fees (home/international). It is only available for full-time study and requires candidates to be based in the UK throughout their studies.

Funding details

The studentship is fully funded for three years, starting January 2026, and includes a tax-free stipend of £20,780 per annum (2025/26 academic year) and full tuition fees for home and international students.

What's required

Applicants must hold at least a 2:1 degree in leadership, organisation studies, or a cognate discipline, and preferably a Masters degree with an average mark of no less than 65% (UK grading scale or international equivalent). A recognised English language qualification is required, with an IELTS score of 7.0 overall or equivalent. Candidates must be available for full-time study and based in the UK throughout their studies. Supporting documents required include a research proposal (max 5 pages), degree certificates and transcripts, and proof of English proficiency. Two referees are required, one of whom must be an academic referee from the institution that conferred the highest degree.
