LBTU: Seeking Collaborations and Projects.

A few months ago, I started in a new role as an Associate Professor at Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) in the field of Materials Science. There, at the Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences and the Institute of Civil Engineering and Woodworking (BUKI), I’ve been given an opportunity to develop a MEI (Materials-Environment Interaction) Core Group. Thanks to everyone who hasn’t given up on me, or my ideas, and has been supporting me on my path. I will never forget that. Thank you!

Talking of the next steps and challenges. We are actively seeking new doctoral and postdoctoral fellows to hire, and whom we would be happy to welcome and support during all the stages, e.g. in Doctoral Networks, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), or the upcoming Postdoc Latvia calls (we have a track record of successful applications and completed projects there; see previous calls for conditions: https://lnkd.in/dHRkWQPQ ).

We are also actively looking to foster international collaborations, build and join project consortia and engage in joint project applications together. We are particularly interested in seeking partnerships and collaboration in Horizon Europe, Interreg, and M.ERA-NET projects, but we are very open to other opportunities as well.

Our strengths include:
??? Innovative and Sustainable Materials, incl. Construction Materials, for Carbon-Neutral Emissions, Wood, Additive Manufacturing.
?? MEI Processes & Modelling, Materials Informatics, Computational Materials, Property Prediction, QSAR/QSPR, Materials Discovery, Multiscale Modelling.
?? Model & Software Development, Applied AI/ML in Materials Science and Engineering, FEA, Digitalization.
?? Durability, Environmental Ageing, Lifetime Prediction, Testing & Characterization, Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE & SHM), Molecular Mechanisms and Kinetics of Degradation (e.g. Ageing of Composites, Polymer Degradation, Fiber Dissolution, Interface/Interphase Deterioration).
?? Environmental Impact, LCA/LCC, CO2 Capture, Recycling of Polymers and Composites, Environmental Remediation, Waste Valorisation.
??? Unique Material Acoustics Laboratory in the Baltic Region.

We welcome connections with anyone who shares an interest in these areas or us, and we look forward to collaborations, new ideas, discussions, and partnerships, both new and old! ??

MEI Core Group. Material–Environment Interaction at the Core of Innovation.
