About this position
Highly relevant opportunity for a fully-funded PhD in Exeter and Paris!
Dr Marina Kvaskoff
(
Université Paris-Saclay
) and I (
University of Exeter Faculty of Health and Life Sciences
) are currently advertising a joint fully-funded PhD project to start in September 2025.
Menstruation as a vital sign: what are the risk factors and psychosocial consequences of dysmenorrhea?
The objectives are to:
1. Understand the prevalence of dysmenorrhea
2. Identify risk factors for developing dysmenorrhea
3. Explore the relationship between dysmenorrhea and psychosocial wellbeing, including potential causal effects and confounding factors
The project uses data from the MenstruLife project ( www.menstrulife.com ) and the French cohort CONSTANCES to address these aims. It capitalises on rich longitudinal data collected through these cohorts, as well as genetic data to enable Mendelian Randomization analyses.
The studentship is fully funded and would involve spending 2 years in Exeter and 1 in Paris.
I’m very happy to talk to any eligible candidates who can demonstrate a background in epidemiology, (medical) statistics, social sciences, biomedicine, or a related strongly quantitative discipline.
