Why not join us and make a difference?The Institute for Diabetes and Cancer, member of the Helmholtz Diabetes Center and the German Center for Diabetes Research aims at identifying common molecular targets in order to develop personalized therapies for Metabolic and Tumor diseases. We invite applications for a fully funded PhD candidate position at the Metabolic Dysfunction and Cancer Division starting October 2024, to study metabolic control of prostate cancer plasticity. Through this project, the candidate will unravel and interrogate the unique metabolic features of highly plastic prostatic tumors with the ultimate goal of developing innovative therapeutic strategies for this lethal disease.Your tasksConduct experimental research using advanced tools and techniques including genetic mouse models, organoids, and single-cell transcriptomics.Analyze and interpret data obtained from in-vivo and in-vitro experiments.Collaborate with an international and interdisciplinary research team to integrate findings and contribute to publications in high-ranking journals.Present research findings at national and international scientific meetings.Your profileExceptional students holding a Master’s degree in a relevant field.Strong interest in cancer and metabolism research.Demonstrable experience in molecular biology techniques, animal models, or analysis of OMICS datasets.Documented experience (FELASA B certificate) in mouse handling, breeding and experimentation is highly desired, but not mandatory.Outstanding motivation to participate in a competitive research program.Excellent English language proficiency, both written and spoken.
