“Next-Generation Flood Models: Physics-Informed Neural Networks for Urban Resilience” [ PhD in Water Resources]
The project focuses on developing innovative flood prediction models through Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs). These models incorporate physical laws, such as the Shallow Water Equations, to ensure accurate and reliable forecasts even in extreme scenarios.
The research aims to integrate real-time data, such as rainfall and water levels, to create models that adapt to changing flood conditions. The tools developed through this project will help city planners and utilities improve flood mitigation strategies, reduce risks, and enhance urban resilience.
This PhD studentship is part of the CDT WIRe funded by Newcastle University (School of Engineering).
