About this position

The Leibniz-Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften - ISAS - e. V. in Dortmund is a leading research institute dedicated to developing efficient analytical methods for health research. As part of the Leibniz Association and publicly funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and its federal states, ISAS aims to advance precision medicine by integrating expertise from biology, chemistry, computer science, medicine, pharmacology, and physics. The institute’s research contributes to improved prevention, early diagnosis, and therapy of diseases such as cardiovascular conditions and cancer.

ISAS is currently inviting applications for a PhD Candidate (m/f/d) in the Research Group Proteomics. The successful candidate will participate in a DFG funded project focused on the identification and characterization of interferon γ-stimulated effector proteins and interferon γ-repressed dependency factors that limit cytomegalovirus replication. Responsibilities include planning and performing proteome and phosphoproteome analyses, developing and optimizing analytical methods, evaluating and visualizing data, documenting laboratory work, and collaborating with project partners. Regular presentation of research results is expected.

Applicants should possess a Masters, Diploma, or equivalent degree in a scientific field such as biology, chemistry, physics, or related subjects like pharmacy or food technology. Laboratory experience, ideally in bioanalytics and preferably in phosphoproteomics, is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, organizational talent, a solution-oriented approach, proficiency in MS Office, willingness to travel, and excellent English language skills. German language proficiency is advantageous. ISAS welcomes applications from disabled candidates and strongly encourages women to apply, supporting equal opportunity for all employees.

The position is part-time (65%) for three years, with salary according to the German TV-L. The institute offers a clear research topic, extensive training and support for PhD students, access to state-of-the-art equipment, opportunities to present research at international conferences, and a wide range of further training and qualifications. Flexible working times, mobile working options, attractive social benefits, and support for balancing work and family life are provided. Non-residents receive assistance with accommodation and administrative matters. Workplace health promotion and participation in TU Dortmund University sports activities are also supported.

Applications must be submitted via the ISAS applicant portal by March 25, 2026, referencing number 390_2026. For questions, contact the Human Resources team at [email protected].
