About this position

KTH Royal Institute of Technology is advertising a fully funded PhD position in Implantable Sensor Systems for Cardiovascular Applications within the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Health Systems. The project is part of the Intelligent Heart Technology Lab (I-HeaL), led by Seraina A. Dual, and focuses on advancing cardiovascular health technologies through implantable and wearable systems.

The doctoral researcher will work on questions such as how to design durable sensor systems that exploit underlying physiological principles. The research includes methods from embedded systems, device manufacturing, signal processing, system modeling, micro and nano systems, and cardiovascular physiology. The lab develops technologies such as artificial hearts, blood pressure sensors, and soft robots for the heart, and the project includes collaboration with clinicians at the Karolinska Institute and validation in hybrid test rigs and translational preclinical models.

Applicants with backgrounds in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or robotics engineering are encouraged to apply. The position is based at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and is a doctoral employment with salary according to KTH’s doctoral student salary agreement.

Eligibility requires a second-cycle degree such as a master’s degree, or equivalent academic preparation, plus English proficiency equivalent to English B/6.
