About this position
The Li Research Group at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville (UTK) is seeking highly motivated candidates for Graduate Research Assistant (PhD or MS level) and Postdoctoral positions in the development of cellulose/metal-organic frameworks (MOF) functional materials. The research focuses on coupling cellulose and MOFs for applications in fluorescence signaling and catalytic decomposition of guest molecules. The successful candidate will join the Center for Renewable Carbon, gaining access to 10 agricultural research and education centers across the USA and collaborating with world-class scientists at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Applicants should have a background in Wood Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials/Polymer Science and Engineering, or a related field. Strong research, analytical, and communication skills are essential. Prior research experience in cellulose chemistry or MOF synthesis is highly desirable. The group values collaborative, research-focused team members.
Funding for GRA positions includes a $36,000–38,000 annual stipend, potential Herbert College PhD Fellowship (~$5,000/year), and full tuition and insurance coverage.
