About this position

The Department of Economics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim invites applications for a three-year PhD position in Economics. As a PhD candidate, you will be admitted to the PhD programme at the Faculty of Economics and Management, where you will receive advanced training in relevant topics and research methodology. Your responsibilities include conducting independent, high-quality research, participating in an organized doctoral programme, and presenting your work at national and international conferences. The department encourages PhD candidates to spend one or two semesters abroad to foster international collaboration and networking.

Applicants must have completed or be in the process of completing a master's degree or equivalent (120 ECTS) in economics or a closely related field, with an average grade of B or better according to NTNU's grading scale. Proficiency in English is required. Master's students nearing completion may apply, but the degree must be documented before starting. Candidates should demonstrate independence, creativity, and a willingness to engage in academic and social activities within the department. The position offers a gross salary of NOK 550,800 per annum for three years, with a 2% statutory contribution to the State Pension Fund and NOK 400 for organizational development initiatives.
