About this position
The Motor Neuron Disease Group at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen, in collaboration with the Research Group Neural Epigenomics at the Max Planck Center for Physics and Medicine and the Department of Stem Cell Biology, is offering a fully funded PhD position focused on the study of long-lived RNAs in motor neuron diseases (MNDs). This interdisciplinary project aims to investigate RNA metabolism in disease models, contributing to the understanding of neurodegenerative mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets.
The research is embedded within the Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research (IZKF) and is part of the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) Physics and Medicine program. The successful candidate will work closely with leading experts including PD Dr. Martin Regensburger, PD Dr. Martin Baumann, Prof. Dr. Toda Tomohisa, and Prof. Dr. Beate Winner. The project leverages advanced molecular biology, epigenomics, and stem cell biology techniques to explore the role of RNA in neurodegeneration.
Applicants should have a strong background in biology, neuroscience, molecular medicine, or related fields, with experience in molecular biology techniques, cell culture, or neurobiology considered an asset. A relevant master's degree and proficiency in English are required. The position is fully funded, covering salary and research expenses, and offers an excellent environment for interdisciplinary research and professional development.
To apply, candidates should use the online application portal, indicate their preferred supervisor and research area, and submit a CV, motivation letter, and supporting documents. For further information, applicants can consult the project links or contact the IMPRS Office at [email protected].
