The Motor Neuron Disease Group at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen, in collaboration with the Research Group Neural Epigenomics at the Max Planck Center for Physics and Medicine and the Department of Stem Cell Biology, is offering a fully funded PhD position focused on the study of long-lived RNAs in motor neuron diseases (MNDs). This interdisciplinary project aims to investigate RNA metabolism in disease models, contributing to the understanding of neurodegenerative mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets.

The research is embedded within the Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research (IZKF) and is part of the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) Physics and Medicine program. The successful candidate will work closely with leading experts including PD Dr. Martin Regensburger, PD Dr. Martin Baumann, Prof. Dr. Toda Tomohisa, and Prof. Dr. Beate Winner. The project leverages advanced molecular biology, epigenomics, and stem cell biology techniques to explore the role of RNA in neurodegeneration.
