About this position

The University of Strasbourg is offering a fully funded PhD position in Molecular and Cellular Biology, with a focus on virology, RNA biology, and bioinformatics. The successful candidate will work in a cutting-edge laboratory environment in Strasbourg, France, and collaborate internationally, including a planned 6-month research exchange in Germany. The research will involve high-throughput sequencing, bioinformatics analysis, molecular virology experiments, and the use of human lung explants and organoids to explore the therapeutic potential of DVGs. The project is ideal for candidates passionate about advanced biological sciences and aiming for a strong academic and research career in life sciences.

Applicants must have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology, biochemistry, virology, or a related field. Essential skills include strong knowledge of RNA biology, experience with standard molecular biology techniques (cloning, PCR, RNA extraction), and an interest in bioinformatics. Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation and basic command-line, Python, or R skills are highly desirable. Proficiency in English is required, while French is not mandatory but helpful for daily life. Candidates must be able to work with infectious viruses in BSL-2/BSL-3 environments and handle hazardous substances with appropriate safety training.

The position is a 36-month fixed-term contract with a minimum monthly salary of €2300. The funding covers full-time work and includes international collaboration opportunities.
