PhD Position in Plant–Insect Interactions, Chemical Ecology, and Artificial Night Light Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL in Switzerland

A fully funded PhD position is available at the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research (WSL) in Birmensdorf, Switzerland, focusing on plant–insect interactions, chemical ecology, and the effects of artificial night light. The research will involve both field and laboratory experiments, including the manipulation of LED night-light color, measurement of plant volatile organic compounds (VOCs), analysis of pollinator behavior, assessment of plant–herbivore interactions, and chemical analysis of plant compounds. The project offers strong international networking opportunities and close collaboration with researchers at the University of Neuchâtel.

Applicants should have experience or a strong interest in chemical ecology methods, plant–insect interaction research, or artificial light at night (ALAN) studies. Experience with laboratory work, VOC sampling, or chemical extraction is desirable. Familiarity with statistical analysis, preferably using R, and excellent written and spoken English skills are required. A valid Swiss driving license is an advantage due to fieldwork requirements.
