The International Max Planck Research School on Cellular Biophysics (IMPRS-CBP) offers fully funded PhD positions for talented and motivated young scientists interested in the interdisciplinary field of cellular biophysics. Hosted by the Max Planck Institute of Biophysics, Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and the Frankfurt Institute of Advanced Studies, the program is located in the vibrant Rhine-Main region of Germany, a renowned scientific and cultural hub.

IMPRS-CBP provides an inspiring international environment where students can explore research at the interface of biology, physics, chemistry, and quantitative sciences. The program features state-of-the-art facilities and a collaborative atmosphere, with approximately 30 internationally recognized principal investigators from participating institutions. PhD students benefit from three lab rotations before selecting their doctoral research group, allowing them to experience diverse scientific approaches and research questions.

The curriculum includes advanced training in cutting-edge techniques such as cryo-electron microscopy, NMR, mass spectrometry, high-resolution light microscopy, and large-scale computing. Students also participate in professional and transferable skills workshops, and join a strong community of peers through joint graduate courses and networking opportunities.

All PhD positions are fully funded, covering tuition and providing a stipend, with additional support for organizational matters. The program seeks applicants with strong academic backgrounds in biology, biochemistry, physics, molecular biology, microbiology, computer science, mathematics, chemistry, or related fields. Candidates should be enthusiastic about biophysics, skilled in scientific methods, and eager to work in an international, English-speaking environment.
