The International Max Planck Research School for Living Matter (IMPRS-LM) offers fully-funded PhD positions for students eager to join an international community of scientists tackling cutting-edge research in biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics, cell biology, chemical biology, and synthetic biology. IMPRS-LM is a joint PhD program between the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology, TU Dortmund University, Ruhr University of Bochum, and University of Duisburg-Essen, located in the vibrant Ruhr Metropolitan Area of Germany. The program unites scientists from diverse backgrounds to investigate fundamental biological questions, such as how chemical entities assemble to create living cells.

Research at IMPRS-LM combines traditional methods from structural and synthetic biology with innovative computational approaches, aiming to dissect the spatial and temporal organization of biochemical networks within cells. The graduate training program features an interdisciplinary curriculum, state-of-the-art research facilities, and dedicated mentorship, equipping students to address complex questions in cellular biology and become independent researchers.
