About this position
HEC Paris, one of the world’s leading business schools, offers fully funded PhD positions in Management, Economics, and Law for the September 2026 intake. The program is designed for ambitious scholars aiming for academic careers and provides a rigorous, research-driven environment with a low student-to-faculty ratio, ensuring personalized guidance and close supervision. Students benefit from intensive coursework, cutting-edge research opportunities, and a vibrant network of researchers, corporate partners, and alumni.
The PhD program features eight areas of specialization: Accounting and Management Control, Economics and Decision Sciences, Finance, Information Systems and Operations Management, Law and Regulation, Management and Human Resources, Marketing, and Strategy and Business Policy. The curriculum is structured in two phases: a two-year Research Master phase with foundational and advanced courses in management, economics, research methods (including econometrics, statistics, machine learning, and qualitative methods), and professional development workshops; followed by a three-year Doctoral Studies phase focused on dissertation research, academic presentations, and further specialization.
Students are encouraged to present their research at international conferences, supported by dedicated funding for travel, accommodation, and fees. Academic visits to top universities and business schools worldwide are facilitated, with additional financial support for living expenses, travel, insurance, and visa costs. The program prepares candidates for the academic job market through workshops, mock interviews, and job talk practice, with a strong track record of placement at leading global institutions.
PhD students receive a 100% tuition waiver and a cost-of-living scholarship of €26,000 per year for up to five years. Additional financial support is available for conference presentations, research visits, job market activities, and other research needs. The program is accredited by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, in collaboration with the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IPP) doctoral school n°626. Students also benefit from HEC Paris career services, housing assistance, and integration support for partners.
