The ORBIS Doctoral Network is recruiting sixteen PhD candidates to work on cutting-edge research in orbitronics and nanoelectronics at leading institutions across Europe, including a position in the group of Associate Professor Marcos H.D. Guimarães at the University of Groningen, Netherlands. The research focuses on orbitronics in 2D materials and van der Waals heterostructures, with opportunities to engage in both theoretical and experimental projects. The program offers a comprehensive, international training environment, including specialized workshops, intersectoral training, and two secondments totaling six months. Doctoral candidates will be enrolled in a PhD program at an ORBIS beneficiary or associated partner institution and will benefit from local and network-wide training activities.

Eligibility requirements include not having been awarded a doctoral degree and not having resided or carried out the main activity in the host country for more than 12 months in the last three years. Proficiency in English is mandatory. Selection is based on academic record, scientific background, and the expected impact of the training on the candidate's career. The positions are fully funded for 36 months, offering a competitive salary adjusted to the host country, a mobility allowance of 710€/month, and a family allowance of 660€/month if applicable.
