The University of Bialystok, Faculty of Chemistry, is offering fully funded postdoctoral and PhD positions within the NCN OPUS-29 project titled "Nanostructured Ternary Alloys: The Role of Laser Ablation in Shaping Composition and Structure" (Project No.: 2025/57/B/ST5/02506). The research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of submicron and nanometer-scale alloy particles using a combination of chemical and physical methods, particularly laser ablation in liquids (LASiS). The project aims to optimize synthesis parameters, control particle composition and surface properties, and analyze the relationship between synthesis conditions and material properties, with a special interest in Heusler-type alloys.
PhD candidates will join the Doctoral School at the University of Bialystok and participate in advanced research in materials science, chemistry, and nanotechnology. The work involves laboratory synthesis, surface modification, and comprehensive characterization using techniques such as TEM, XRD, EDX, and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Candidates should have a strong background in chemistry, physics, or chemical engineering, good laboratory and teamwork skills, a minimum GPA of 3.5 (last two years), and sufficient English proficiency for independent scientific work. The doctoral scholarship is up to 5,000 PLN/month, with additional support for research and conference participation.
The postdoctoral position is open to candidates with a PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science, or related fields, preferably with experience in laser ablation synthesis. The postdoc will optimize laser ablation synthesis, investigate synthesis parameters, conduct experimental work, and contribute to scientific publications. The annual gross salary is 140,000 PLN, and the position includes access to advanced laboratory infrastructure and support for international conferences and publications. OPUS-29 regulations require that the postdoc's PhD was awarded by a different institution than the host, and that they have not had the principal investigator as their PhD supervisor.
