About this position
The Laboratory of Neuroepigenetics at the Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague is offering a postdoctoral fellowship opportunity for an experimental neuroscientist or molecular biologist. This position is designed for highly motivated researchers with strong experimental skills in molecular and cellular neuroscience, who are interested in investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. The successful candidate will lead experimental projects focusing on the roles of non-coding RNAs and epigenetic modifications in brain disorders, with a primary emphasis on Alzheimer's Disease, Schizophrenia, and stress-related psychiatric conditions.
The research environment is interdisciplinary, integrating advanced transcriptomics, functional genomics, and disease modeling to bridge molecular alterations with disease phenotypes. The laboratory provides access to state-of-the-art facilities for sequencing, imaging, and animal behavior studies, and is located within a vibrant Bio-Medical Campus with strong international collaborations. The position offers the freedom to shape research directions within the lab's broader themes, with a major focus on in vivo and in vitro approaches, including work with mouse models and neuronal cell culture.
The selected candidate will receive full institutional support to apply for a Marie Skłodowska‑Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA PF) and/or an EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship. This includes guidance on proposal structure, requirements, and feedback on key sections, as well as mentoring and individual consultation for project management. The position is contingent on successful fellowship award, with a competitive MSCA allowance or EMBO stipend provided upon funding. Additional benefits include 5 weeks vacation, 3 sick days, access to on-site gym and squash court, parking, bike storage, and on-site kindergarten.
Eligibility requirements for MSCA include a PhD awarded by the call deadline (September 2026), no more than 8 years of postdoctoral experience, and not having resided in the Czech Republic for more than 12 months in the past 36 months. For EMBO, applicants must have a PhD awarded by the application deadline, no more than 2 years of postdoctoral experience, and similar residency restrictions. Applicants of any nationality are welcome. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, with the MSCA PF deadline on September 2026 and EMBO deadlines in January and July each year.
To apply, send your CV (with publication list), a brief statement of research interests (max 2 pages), and contact details for 2–3 references to [email protected].
