About this position

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani - Goa Campus is inviting applications for the ANRF National Postdoctoral Fellowship (N-PDF) under the supervision of Professor Shibu Clement. This postdoctoral opportunity is focused on advanced research in Nozzle Flow Control and Aeroacoustics, with applications in aerospace propulsion, energy systems, and high-speed flow devices. The research will involve experimental and numerical investigations of jet and nozzle flows, active and passive flow control techniques for noise reduction, aeroacoustic modeling of turbulent jets and shear layers, shock-turbulence interaction, and the use of CFD/LES/DNS, signal processing, and acoustic diagnostics. Integration of flow physics with practical noise-mitigation strategies is also a key aspect.

Applicants should hold a PhD (or have submitted their thesis) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or a closely related discipline. A strong background in fluid dynamics and aeroacoustics is essential, along with experience in experimental methods (such as PIV, hot-wire, microphone arrays) and/or high-fidelity numerical simulations. Candidates must demonstrate proven research ability through peer-reviewed publications and be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

The fellowship offers access to state-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities and the chance to work on nationally relevant, cutting-edge research problems. Expected outcomes include high-quality publications, contributions to funded research projects, mentoring opportunities, and potential for collaboration with industry and international partners. The deadline for expression of interest is February 7, 2026. Interested candidates should send their CV and a brief statement of research interest to [email protected]. For more details, candidates can visit the ANRF N-PDF scheme link provided in the announcement.
