About this position
The Sustainable Materials Research Center (SusMat-RC) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is offering a postdoctoral fellowship in organic chemistry. This opportunity is designed for a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join an interdisciplinary team composed of experts in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, electrochemistry, catalysis, and sustainable agriculture. The successful candidate will play a leading role in organic synthesis and contribute to the development and characterization of new generations of multifunctional materials.
UM6P, located in the Green City of Benguerir, Morocco, is a higher education institution with international standards, serving Morocco and the African continent. The university is committed to advancing applied research and innovation, with state-of-the-art infrastructure and a broad academic and research network. SusMat-RC is a multidisciplinary research center focused on developing advanced biobased products and materials using biotechnological, physical, and chemical conversion strategies, as well as engineering processes. The center aims to understand and control material functionalities and structure-property relationships across multiple length scales, addressing key technological challenges and supporting the transition toward a green and circular economy.
The postdoctoral appointment is initially for one year, with the expectation of renewal for an additional year. The fellow will have opportunities to collaborate with international partners, participate in workshops, conferences, and summer school activities, mentor PhD and research assistant students, and contribute to drafting proposals, research papers, and patents. The role involves developing and characterizing ongoing and new multifunctional materials, assessing performance at lab scale, and engaging with world-class institutions.
Applicants must hold a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry and possess extensive experience in organic synthesis, biopolymer extraction and functionalization, and material characterization using analytical, spectroscopic, and microscopic techniques. A strong scientific record, including at least two published papers in highly ranked peer-reviewed journals, and fluent English communication skills are required. Preferred qualifications include experience in green chemistry, advanced analytical tools, and inorganic chemistry.
To apply, candidates should submit a single PDF file containing an updated CV or résumé, academic transcripts, a two-page statement of purpose addressing motivation and fit for SusMat-RC, and contact information for three references. Applications are evaluated immediately upon receipt due to the urgency of project timelines. For more information and to apply, visit the provided application link.
