This postdoctoral opportunity at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) offers two positions for talented researchers to join the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SusMaT-RC) in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The project focuses on the development of multifunctional, bio-sourced hydrogels for agricultural applications, leveraging locally abundant biomass and sustainable processing pathways. The research aims to convert biomass into high-value components, integrate them with fertilizers or biobased additives, and produce advanced hydrogels to support agricultural innovation.
Successful candidates will work under the supervision of Professor Youssef Habibi and will be expected to contribute expertise in hydrogel formulation, (bio)polymer processing, and the development and characterization of porous materials. The role involves rigorous experimental work, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and the use of advanced analytical, spectroscopic, and microscopic techniques. Responsibilities also include maintaining detailed research records, preparing technical reports and scientific publications, and contributing to research proposals and funding applications. The position may require short-term travel to the United States for collaborative assignments.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field such as chemistry, polymer science, materials science and engineering, or related disciplines. Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills are essential, as is proficiency in English. Experience supervising students and a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks are highly valued.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in physical chemical and analytical chemistry, chemistry, polymer science, materials science and engineering, or related areas. Candidates should have hands-on experience in hydrogel formulation and (bio)polymer processing, experience in developing porous materials, and a strong background in materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or chemistry. Familiarity with analytical, spectroscopic, and microscopic techniques is required. Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work independently and manage time effectively, are essential. Proficiency in oral and written English is required. Experience supervising students and willingness to travel abroad for short assignments are preferred.
