This ANR-funded project aims to characterize the neurodevelopmental and skeletal trajectories of STAD syndrome (Masson-Paccaud-Vitobello syndrome) using a knock-in mouse model and patient-derived cerebral organoids. The research leverages advanced omics technologies, including single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, alongside cell and molecular assays, to dissect the underlying mechanisms of disease.
The successful candidate will prepare and process developmental samples for cellular, molecular, and single-cell/spatial transcriptomic analyses, perform histological characterization, immunostaining, and advanced imaging to assess neuroanatomy and cytoarchitecture, and design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments independently. Responsibilities also include maintaining and breeding mouse lines, collaborating with bioinformaticians, postdocs, and PhD students, disseminating results through scientific publications and conference presentations, participating in ongoing team projects, supervising Master’s and PhD students, applying for funding opportunities, and engaging in lab meetings and scientific discussions.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Neuroscience, Systems Biology, Developmental Biology, or a related field with omics-oriented skills. Candidates finalizing their PhD should provide their expected defense date. Required skills include strong experience in histological characterization of brain development and cytoarchitecture, proficiency in immunohistochemistry and advanced imaging, cell and molecular biology expertise, hands-on experience with mouse models (including a valid permit for laboratory animal handling), and familiarity with single-cell or spatial transcriptomics. Bioinformatics skills, particularly independent data mining and exploratory analyses, are highly desirable. Excellent command of English, autonomy, initiative, adaptability, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and communication abilities are essential. Eligible candidates should have 0 to 4 years of experience after PhD.
The position is funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) for 24 months (not renewable), with salary depending on professional experience.
