About this position

The Department of Automation at the Lublin University of Technology (LUT) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the field of nonlinear dynamical studies of smart material structures. This opportunity is part of a research project funded by the National Science Center under the OPUS 26 Project. The research will focus on advanced topics such as mechanical engineering, control engineering, materials engineering, process engineering, energy technology, and applied physics, with a particular emphasis on energy harvesting, multi-body and nonlinear dynamics, and coupled multi-physics-based systems.

The successful candidate will join a group of researchers working on cutting-edge problems involving the mathematical modeling of nonlinear physical phenomena and material properties. The role requires expertise in modeling and simulation of coupled multi-physics-based nonlinear dynamical systems using the finite volume method. The candidate will also be expected to independently operate and manage wind tunnel experiments, including test setup, instrumentation, data acquisition, and analysis, as well as conduct numerical modeling and simulation using MATLAB and Ansys software to complement experimental studies.

Applicants must hold a PhD in engineering or physics, awarded no earlier than seven years before the application deadline, and demonstrate documented scientific achievements in physics, mechanics, or electrical engineering. Fluency in English, strong motivation for scientific research, and the ability to work effectively in a team are essential. The selection process will be competitive and based on academic qualifications, research experience, and relevance of expertise to the project objectives, in accordance with NCN OPUS-26 guidelines.

Required application documents include a cover letter, CV, list of scientific publications, recommendation letter (desired), and several official forms and statements as specified in the position announcement. Applications must be submitted by post or email to the Department of Automation, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Lublin University of Technology, by 17 April 2026, 10:00 am (Europe/Warsaw). Salary and employment conditions are governed by the university's remuneration regulations. For further details, visit the university website or the official position link.
