This postdoctoral position at KTH Royal Institute of Technology focuses on developing tools for sustainable urban planning to help cities achieve climate neutrality. The project integrates world-leading research on climate actions, artificial intelligence in urban planning, and nature-based solutions (NBS) to create a decision support tool for effective climate strategies through physical planning. The successful candidate will lead modelling efforts, coordinate research and practical activities with Swedish cities and international partners, and contribute to high-quality scientific publications and external funding proposals.

The role requires a strong theoretical and applied background in sustainable urban and regional planning, decision support systems, nature-based solutions, and carbon-neutral cities. Key responsibilities include producing publishable research, presenting at conferences, and collaborating with urban planners for project coordination and communication.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree awarded within the last three years, expertise in computer-based decision support systems, programming, spatial modelling, carbon accounting, and spatial data analysis, as well as a proven publication record in relevant fields. Experience in developing decision support methods and tools, land use modelling, and analysis of nature-based solutions is highly valued. The position is full-time for up to two years, with a monthly salary and employment benefits.
