Trinity College Dublin’s Institute of Neuroscience and School of Psychology, through the Irrationality Lab, is offering postdoctoral positions in Decision Neuroscience. The research focuses on understanding the neural and computational mechanisms underlying preference variability and how the human brain shapes, maintains, and revises preferences for different attributes.

Successful candidates will engage in experimental, analytical, and computational research, utilizing advanced techniques such as magnetencephalography (OPM-MEG) to decode preferences at the level of single multiattribute decisions. The work involves charting the temporal dynamics of multiattribute preferences across successive decisions and conducting computational modeling of human decision-making grounded in neurophysiological data. The position also includes contributing to research at the intersection of decision science and cognitive neuroscience, as well as writing and publishing peer-reviewed scientific papers.

Applicants should hold a PhD in neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, computational neuroscience, or a related field, and have experience in experimental, analytical, and computational research. Proficiency in English is required, and skills in OPM-MEG, computational modeling, and neurophysiological data analysis are highly desirable. The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the IUA Salary Scales for post-PhD Researchers. The latest possible start date is November 2026.
