About this position

Western Sydney University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a high-impact Australian Research Council–funded project focused on sustainable construction and decarbonisation. The position is based at the Penrith (Kingswood) campus and offers the opportunity to advance research in recycled concrete technologies and cement decarbonisation, supporting a more sustainable construction industry. The successful candidate will work within the School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team and contributing to nationally significant research on green technologies and sustainable development.

Key responsibilities include leading and contributing to innovative research in sustainable construction materials and technologies, collecting and analysing research data, publishing high-quality research outputs, preparing competitive research grant applications, supervising higher degree research students, and collaborating with industry and academic partners. The role also involves contributing to the intellectual life of the School and University through seminars, guest lectures, and engagement activities.

Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field such as sustainable construction, civil engineering, or materials science, and demonstrate a strong publication record in Q1 journals. Experience in securing competitive research funding, experimental design, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, and data analysis software is required. Experience working with government, industry, and professional partners is preferred. Candidates must have full, unrestricted working rights in Australia, as visa sponsorship is not available.
