The University of Jyväskylä’s Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy invites applications for a 4-year fixed-term Postdoctoral Researcher position in Digital Humanities, focusing on the History of Philosophy and Arabic Philology. This role is part of Professor Jari Kaukua’s ISHRAQ project, which investigates the philosophical legacy of Shihāb al-Dīn al-Suhrawardī from the thirteenth to the seventeenth century CE. The project aims to create an online database of Illuminationist texts, contributing to the understanding and accessibility of Islamic philosophical traditions.
The successful candidate will join an international research team and play a key role in constructing the database of Illuminationist texts. The salary is determined by the university’s salary system for teaching and research staff, ranging from approximately 3500 to 4000 €/month (gross), depending on qualifications and experience.
