The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Karolinska Institutet, one of Europe's largest and most prestigious medical research institutions, is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Eating Disorder Epidemiology and Genetics. The department is renowned for its collaborative spirit and strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, as well as biostatistics and precision medicine. The successful candidate will join the Psychiatric Epidemiology Group and the Centre for Eating Disorders Innovation (CEDI), a dynamic research environment integrating genomic, biological, clinical, and environmental data to advance understanding and treatment of eating disorders.

This postdoctoral position focuses on avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), aiming to clarify its complex genetic and environmental etiology, dissect clinical and biological heterogeneity, and explore relationships with other eating disorders and psychiatric, neurodevelopmental, and somatic conditions. The researcher will have access to some of the world’s largest and most richly phenotyped and genotyped cohorts, linked to Swedish health registers, and will conduct large-scale genomic analyses, including cross-disorder studies and polygenic risk score–based risk prediction. Collaboration with the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium Eating Disorders Working Group (PGC-ED) is a key component.

Responsibilities include large-scale data management and analysis, manuscript preparation, grant applications, research coordination, supervision of student projects, and dissemination of findings. The position encourages independent research development and external funding applications. Weekly supervision will be provided by Assistant Professor Lisa Dinkler, and teaching opportunities may be available based on interest.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline (epidemiology, genetics, biostatistics, psychiatry, psychology, or related medical sciences). Strong skills in data management, statistical analysis, programming (preferably R), and genomic data analysis are essential. Experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals and excellent English communication skills are required. Personal qualities such as motivation, curiosity, organization, initiative, and collaboration are highly valued. Meriting criteria include prior eating disorder research, handling large-scale survey or health record data, first-author publications, clinical work, research funding applications, and Swedish language skills.
