The Kamoun Lab at The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL), Norwich, UK, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher or research assistant to join a world-class team focused on the biology of plant immune receptors and their application to crop disease resistance. The research centers on nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat (NLR) proteins and their interactions with pathogen virulence effectors, contributing to both fundamental and translational advances in plant immunity. The successful candidate will engage in curiosity-driven research, collaborate with national and international partners, and have opportunities to work with industry, broadening career prospects beyond academia.

The Kamoun Lab investigates plant immune receptors, pathogen effectors, and host–pathogen co-evolution, spanning fundamental discovery (mechanisms of NLR activation, immune receptor networks, evolutionary and structural biology) and applied science (disease-resistance engineering, translational partnerships). The lab values open science, collaboration, and creative, hypothesis-driven research, and has a strong record of supporting early-career researchers. Funding sources include UKRI/BBSRC, ERC, Google.org, and industry partners, reflecting the lab’s broad research scope.

Key responsibilities include leading defined research projects, designing and executing experiments in plant immunity, and integrating molecular, cell, computational, structural biology, and genomics approaches. The position offers a 48-month contract, flexible start date, and a salary of £31,236—£46,049 depending on experience.
