About this position

We focus on developing general platforms for the purification of antibodies, their fragments & proteins in general without the need for any chromatographic steps, specific ligands, membranes or polymers (resins). Instead, we use either (a) micelles conjugated specifically with [metal:chelator] hydrophobic complexes or (ii) hydrophobic complexes devoid of detergents. Thus far, we were able to efficiently purify: IgG's, IgM's, IgA's, F(ab')2, Fc-fusion protein & lactoferrin (which is not an antibody). Recent relevant studies are listed below. Being a small group (2-3 PhD students), we discuss daily the meaning of the results and decide how to move forward. So, every student receives full attention and assistance throughout his\her degree. By following this attitude, we generally make significant progress very rapidly since working together as a team (where ego is out of the equation), circumvents huge time loss due to misunderstandings or focusing on the wrong objective.Recent publications describing the above: IgG: Dhandapani G., Wachtel E., and Patchornik G.* Conjugated surfactant micelles: a non-denaturing purification platform for concentrated human immunoglobulin G.
