Dear All,
After successful venture through grilling yet exciting journey of being a faculty in Academia, I am ready to host PhD students @Regenerative Medicine lab, NIPER, Mohali. The admission will be
1) NIPER PhD exam (you don't require independent CSIR/DBT/ICMR/INSPIRE etc.) and institute will sponsor your fellowship.
2) People having independent fellowships as mentioned above can be absorbed directly through an interview process.
What I offer:
1. Encouraging, supportive, and compassionate environment: Most of the times, PhD seems like a nightmare to people that comes with poor financial, physical, and mental health. My main goal is to produce compassionate scientists and prioritise well being of my students by taking care of all above aspects.
2. Exciting collaborations: Stanford was an important milestone in my career and the beauty of it lies in how people trust each other and help unconditionally. I have been fortunate to have some amazing collaborators and pursuing postdoc internationally after PhD won't be a problem.
3. Amazing science: The core focus of my lab is developing biologics for ocular/neurodegenerative disorders. I also want to expand our anti-aging therapy research in collaboration with Buck Institute of aging and IISER Mohali where we are developing cutting edge therapies to extend healthspan and longevity. You will work on most breakthrough technologies like iPSCs, disease modelling, organoids, B2B translation, high-throughput drug discovery etc. You will have opportunity to learn from leaders in science and will also have option to complete some part of your training in amazing institutes like Buck, Stanford, Harvard, and John Hopkins.
4. Academia v/s Industry- your choice: NIPER offers an excellent environment that fosters industry-academia collaborations and we have an in house bio incubator for startups. So whether you want to go to academia or work on a startup, you will have my support.
5. Focus on creativity: In your PhD, you will have full freedom to pursue your most bold ideas.
6. Last but not least, your PhD won't be extended to unnecessary lengths if you complete the work on time.
What I need from you:
-You should be passionate about making a difference in society which will help you to navigate through tough times in PhD. Kindly don't approach me if you lack this. I would love to hear about your "Flash of the genius moment".
-You should be hardworking, even if you have been average in academia, we will make it work.
-You should be a good team player. Seriously, no petty fights over lab space or timings of using an instrument.
-You should be organised and able to think ahead. It will help you big time.
-Lastly, you should be able to qualify either NIPER PhD exam or have an independent fellowship.
