Applications are open for a PhD Scholarship on “Transforming the business environment through stakeholder relationships” at Leuphana University. The position is part of the new doctoral program “Embracing Transformation”, which brings together interdisciplinary perspectives and provides a supportive research environment with excellent mentoring, international networks, and a strong thematic focus.

One of the program’s key areas is “Companies as Drivers of Sustainability Transformations”, highlighting the role businesses play in shaping sustainable markets and societies. While companies contribute to environmental and social challenges, they also hold the potential to drive positive change. Research will focus on how organizations can foster sustainable consumption, build responsible business relationships, and support long-term environmental and social transformation — both within and beyond their boundaries.

The selected PhD candidate will specifically explore how stakeholder theory can enhance the contribution of corporations to sustainability transformation.
