Upcoming PhD Positions at the International Max Planck Research School for Molecules of Life in Summer 2026 International Max Planck Research School for Molecules of Life (IMPRS-ML) in Germany

The International Max Planck Research School for Molecules of Life (IMPRS-ML) in Munich, Germany, will open applications for fully funded PhD positions in Summer 2026. IMPRS-ML is a collaborative graduate school uniting the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, the Max Planck Institute for Biological Intelligence, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), and Technische Universität München (TUM). The program offers a vibrant, international research environment with over 250 PhD students from more than 40 countries and 38 distinguished faculty members.

Research areas include biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics, cell biology, systems biology, computational biology, and related fields such as bioinformatics, biotechnology, cancer research, genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, and biomedical engineering. The structured PhD program is conducted in English and features individual supervision by leading scientists, a comprehensive curriculum requiring 25 ECTS credits, and a wide range of methodology and soft skills courses. Students benefit from full funding, no tuition fees, and additional support for scientific training and career development. The program is open to applicants with an MSc or equivalent degree in relevant disciplines; exceptional candidates with a 4-year BSc (honours or equivalent) may also be considered.
