The WATER4MED Summer School, hosted by the Department of Civil, Environmental, Land, Building and Chemical Engineering (DICATECh) at the Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy, offers an intensive program on innovative strategies for climate-resilient water management in the Mediterranean. Scheduled for June 8–11, 2026, this EU-funded event is part of the PRIMA project WATER4MED and is designed to foster mobility, capacity building, and knowledge exchange among young scientists and professionals.

The Summer School features four modules: (1) Coupled hydrological–hydrogeological modelling for climate-resilient water management, (2) Groundwater geochemistry and isotope hydrology for water quality assessment, (3) Time-series analysis and data-driven methods for aquifer characterization, and (4) Decision-support systems, water governance, and nature-based solutions. The program includes both theoretical and practical sessions, with hands-on exercises, problem-solving, and case study analysis using state-of-the-art tools developed within the WATER4MED project.

Eligible participants include PhD students, young researchers, graduates, and early-career professionals in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, and related disciplines. Applicants must demonstrate a solid background in these fields and proficiency in English. The selection process considers academic qualifications, CV, work experience, thesis topics, motivation, and gender equity. The event is limited to 25 in-person and 25 online participants, ensuring an interactive and focused learning environment.

Participation is free of charge, thanks to EU funding, but attendees are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and living expenses. A certificate of attendance is awarded to those who complete at least 80% of the sessions and practical exercises.
