PhD Funded Positions in Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology, and Agricultural Engineering at University of Sassari
The University of Sassari in Italy is offering several fully funded PhD positions in Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology, and Agricultural Engineering for the 2025/2026 academic year. These positions are open to candidates of all nationalities and focus on research areas such as agrometeorology, plant ecophysiology, sustainable agricultural systems, management and protection of agricultural and forestry systems, biotechnologies, zootechnical sciences, animal genetics, and food safety. The program aims to train highly qualified researchers capable of addressing challenges in innovation, sustainability, and advanced agricultural productivity, with strong links to environmental protection and technological advancement.
PhD students will have the opportunity to specialize in fields strategically relevant for regional, national, and global innovation. The scholarships are fully funded, with an annual gross amount of €16,243.00, and include a 50% increase for approved research periods abroad. The program is supported by PR Sardegna FSE+ 2021–2027, with dedicated funding lines for projects aligned with business and strategic sectors, and exclusive scholarships for women in STEM fields to promote gender equality.
Applicants must hold a Master’s Degree, Specialist Degree, or an equivalent foreign qualification. International students are welcome, provided they submit legalized and translated academic documents. For PR Sardegna scholarships, candidates must be under 35 years old, and only women may apply for Line B. All scholarship holders must conduct their PhD activities primarily in Sardinia and complete a mandatory 6-month study period abroad. Failure to complete the program or the required international stay will require reimbursement of the scholarship.
