Universitat Pompeu Fabra

Senior Postdoctoral Fellow in Cancer Biology and Immunotherapy at Universitat Pompeu Fabra

The Cancer Biology laboratory at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, led by Associate Professor Ana Janic, is seeking a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow to join their research team in Barcelona, Spain. The lab focuses on understanding how tumour suppressors, particularly the p53 gene, regulate cellular processes to prevent cancer development and how these insights can be translated into novel cancer immunotherapy strategies. The research utilizes advanced mouse models, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, and a variety of molecular and cell biology techniques to explore the mechanisms of tumour suppression and genomic stability. The successful candidate will work on projects aimed at identifying new therapeutic strategies to enhance immunotherapy for tumours with high chromosomal instability. Key research areas include cancer biology, immunology, CRISPR/Cas9, mouse models, and the study of tumour suppressor networks. The position involves generating novel syngeneic models, testing combinatorial therapies, and characterizing drug mechanisms, as well as contributing to teaching in Cell Biology and Cancer Biology courses. Applicants should have a PhD in biological or biomedical sciences, strong organizational and teamwork skills, and a background in immunology and/or cancer biology. Experience with mouse models, biochemistry, cell biology techniques, and hematopoietic stem cell culture is advantageous. The position offers a competitive salary of 38,502.10€ per year, full-time employment under Spanish regulations, and social security benefits. The contract is for 3 years with the possibility of extension for an additional 3 years. The start date is by April 2026, and the application deadline is February 20, 2026. To apply, candidates should send a cover letter, CV, and at least two references to [email protected]. Early applications are encouraged, and shortlisted candidates will be interviewed on February 23, 2026. More information about the lab and research can be found at the lab's website.
