Postdoctoral Position in Kidney Organoids and Advanced Bioengineering at Maastricht University

The MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine at Maastricht University is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for the ERC-funded NEPHRON project, focused on kidney organoids and advanced bioengineering. The project aims to develop next-generation in vitro kidney models using iPSC-derived organoids, bioprinting, and organ-on-chip technologies. The research addresses critical challenges in chronic kidney disease (CKD) by creating physiologically relevant kidney organoid systems with improved vascularization and collecting duct functionality. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team to advance organoid characterization through molecular, imaging, and functional assays, and integrate bioprinting and microfluidic platforms. The position offers an intellectually vibrant and collaborative environment, contributing to cutting-edge regenerative medicine and drug development research. Applicants should have a PhD in stem cell biology, developmental biology, tissue or biomedical engineering, or related fields, with hands-on experience in pluripotent stem cell culture and kidney organoid generation. Familiarity with bioprinting or organ-on-chip systems and a strong publication record are preferred.
