Pharmaceutical tablets production

A fully funded PhD opportunity is available at Newcastle University, supervised by Colin Hare, focusing on predictive modelling of powder blending in continuous direct compression for pharmaceutical tablets. The project is supported by AstraZeneca and aims to advance continuous production methods in the pharmaceutical industry, with a particular emphasis on ensuring reliable blending for high-quality drug products. The position is open to UK (home) students only, with a start date in January or April 2026. Applicants should have a background in chemical engineering, pharmacy, materials science, or chemistry, and an interest in pharmaceutical manufacturing and process development.
