Postdoctoral Researcher (Adjunct) in Cosmic Ray and Neutrino Studies – P-ONE Experiment
The Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences (IFJ PAN) in Krakow, Poland, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher (Adjunct) position in the Department of Cosmic Ray Research and Neutrino Studies (NZ15), Division of Particle and Astroparticle Physics. The successful candidate will join the P-ONE experiment, focusing on astrophysical neutrinos and the sources of very-high energy neutrinos.
This full-time research position is offered for up to 33 months, with no teaching obligations. The main responsibilities include participation in the P-ONE experiment, analysis of data from the first P-ONE measurement lines, detector calibration, involvement in P-ONE working groups and collaboration meetings, development of detector simulations, and planning and performing data analyses. The postdoc will also participate in conferences, assist in preparing and reporting external funding applications, and disseminate research results through publications and presentations at seminars and international conferences. Applying for external research funding is also expected.
Applicants must hold a PhD in physical sciences or a related discipline (chemistry, physical chemistry, or material science), have a strong publication record in international journals, and demonstrate expertise in neutrino or astro-particle physics. Experience in experimental data analysis, including programming in Python, C++, or the ROOT environment, and familiarity with scientific research equipment are required. Teamwork skills and excellent English proficiency are essential. Additional assets include knowledge of P-ONE or similar experiments and artificial intelligence applications in research.
The position offers a competitive monthly gross salary (PLN 7,250 for PhD holders, PLN 8,050 for habilitated doctors), with possible additional benefits such as long-service awards, annual bonuses, and support from the Company Social Benefits Fund. The institute provides excellent research facilities, including computer farms, cloud computing infrastructure, and access to world-class experts. Annual leave of 36 days is included.
