Postdoctoral Position in Artificial Intelligence and Education at University of Tennessee
The Artificial Intelligence, Race, and Evaluation Lab (AIRELab) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join their team. Led by Assistant Professor Fatima T. Zahra, AIRELab focuses on designing socially just interventions and leveraging artificial intelligence for human development, particularly in educational contexts. The postdoc will contribute to a pilot project aimed at reimagining how AI can enhance teaching and learning in both graduate and undergraduate classrooms.
The successful candidate will lead quantitative and mixed-methods studies, support experimental and pilot interventions in education and workforce training, design and evaluate AI-integrated curricula and learning tools, and contribute to grant writing, IRB protocols, and peer-reviewed publications. Additional responsibilities include facilitating workshops, mentoring graduate and undergraduate researchers, collaborating with domestic and international partners, and helping design a data dashboard to support decision-making in educational settings.
Applicants should have a PhD in Computer Science, Education/Learning Sciences, Economics, Psychology, Public Policy, or a related field. Strong quantitative and mixed-methods research skills, a publication record, and a passion for equity-centered, applied research are essential. The position is full-time, onsite at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a salary range of $60,000–$70,000.
