Post-doctoral Position in Cybersecurity – Fixed-term Contract 24 months

IMT Atlantique, a leading generalist engineering school within the Institut Mines-Télécom group, invites applications for a 24-month fixed-term post-doctoral position in Cybersecurity. The position is based at the Rennes campus, France, within the Network Systems, Cybersecurity, and Law (SRCD) department. This opportunity is part of the SOTERN team’s project, supported by the CREACHLABS grant, which focuses on reconstructing network traffic byte streams to accurately reflect monitored machine behavior. The successful candidate will collaborate with the project team and experts from ANSSI to analyze network flow reassembly policies in firewalls and TLS interception tools. The main research objective is to design automated configuration mechanisms using fingerprinting and machine learning, ensuring that traffic analysis remains faithful to the behavior of monitored machines. The role includes validating solutions through systematic experimental campaigns, contributing to high-impact research in cybersecurity and network systems. IMT Atlantique offers an exceptional working environment on the Rennes-Atalante Beaulieu campus, featuring state-of-the-art infrastructure, coworking spaces, and a vibrant innovation ecosystem. The school is ranked among the top 10 in France and provides direct access to startups, research clusters, and industrial leaders in cybersecurity and telecommunications. Collaborations with renowned research organizations such as IRISA, IETR, CNRS, and INRIA offer opportunities for high-level publications and international networking. The position includes a competitive gross annual salary of €35,800, reduced social security contributions, and a comprehensive benefits package (leisure and sports offers, subsidized public transport, sustainable mobility package, family allowance, partial teleworking, and generous leave entitlement). The contract is a 24-month public-law appointment, with possible renewal for civil servants. Applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Science (obtained less than 3 years before the hiring date), possess advanced skills in network protocols and cybersecurity, and have experience with operating systems (Windows/Linux) and traffic analysis tools. Proficiency in machine learning applied to networking is a plus. Strong analytical skills, scientific rigor, creativity, and excellent English communication skills are essential. The position is open to all, with special arrangements for candidates with disabilities. The application deadline is April 12, 2026, with the contract starting in October 2026. Recruitment interviews are conducted as applications are received.
