Fully Funded PhD Positions in Thrombo-Inflammation, Vascular Imaging, and Biomedical Science at Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg
The newly established Research Training Group (RTG) 3190 "Thrombo-Inflame" at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg and University Hospital Würzburg offers 11 fully funded PhD positions for research in thrombo-inflammation. Supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), this interdisciplinary program focuses on the mechanisms and therapeutic relevance of inflammatory processes mediated by platelets and their precursor cells, megakaryocytes. The research covers molecular biology, vascular imaging, immunology, cardiology, neuroimmunology, and data science, providing a unique opportunity for doctoral candidates to work in a cutting-edge environment.
PhD students will join a vibrant team of supervisors, including experts in experimental biomedicine, thrombocyte biology, immunology, bio-imaging, and neuroimmunology. The program is structured under the Graduate School of Life Sciences (GSLS) and offers a flexible, modular training plan, including soft skills and interdisciplinary competencies. Research projects span from basic molecular mechanisms to translational human studies, utilizing advanced methods such as in vivo models, single-cell analysis, experimental therapeutics, microscopy, and AI-driven data analytics.
