Postdoctoral and PhD Positions in AI-Enabled Wireless Communication Networks and IoT at University of New Brunswick

Dr. Hong Chen, Assistant Professor and Cisco Research Chair in IoT at the University of New Brunswick, is recruiting Postdoctoral and PhD candidates for Summer (May) and Fall (September) 2026. The research group focuses on cutting-edge topics in AI-enabled wireless communication networks, exploring the interplay between machine learning and wireless networks. Key research areas include semantic communication, digital twin, edge intelligence, generative AI and large language models (LLM), and intelligent IoT systems. Applicants should have a strong background in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields, with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.3. PhD applicants must hold a Master's degree with an excellent academic record; prior publications are preferred. English language proficiency is required, and details can be found on the department website. The group values highly self-motivated students interested in high-impact research at the intersection of academia and industry. Admitted Postdoc and PhD candidates will receive full financial support, timely and effective supervision, and opportunities for teaching assistantships, guest lecturing, academic exchanges, and industry internships. The group collaborates with leading institutions such as the University of Alberta, McMaster University, and Western University, as well as industry partners like Cisco Canada and Bell NB.
