Postdoctoral Positions in Soft Robotics, Mechanical Design, and Battery & Energy Materials at KAIST

The Soft Robotics and Intelligent Materials Laboratory (SRIM Lab) at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) is inviting applications for postdoctoral positions in the fields of Mechanical Design, Soft Robotics, and Battery & Energy Materials. Led by Professor Ilkwon Oh, the lab focuses on cutting-edge research in soft robotic systems, metamaterials, wearable and haptic devices, and next-generation energy storage technologies. There are two main tracks available: Mechanical Design / Soft Robotics and Battery & Energy Materials. The Mechanical Design / Soft Robotics track involves structural design of metamaterials and soft robotic systems using CAD, actuation mechanism development, FEM-based performance prediction, prototyping, and integration of actuators, sensors, and control systems. Candidates will also engage in multimodal data processing and AI-based modeling, covering the full cycle from training to validation and improvement. The Battery & Energy Materials track focuses on the development of ALD and sputtering processes for secondary battery materials, electrochemical characterization of lithium-ion batteries, and the creation of next-generation energy storage devices using semiconductor thin-film processes. Materials chemistry and thin-film analysis are also key components of this research area. The position offers a minimum monthly salary of KRW 3,500,000. Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field and demonstrate expertise aligned with the chosen track. All required documents verifying eligibility, educational background, certifications, work experience, and research credentials must be submitted as per the guidelines. The application window is from February 11, 2026, 14:00 to February 19, 2026, 23:59. Applications must be submitted online via the KAIST recruitment portal. For more information about the lab and its research, visit the SRIM Lab website. This is an excellent opportunity for researchers interested in advancing the fields of soft robotics, mechanical design, and energy materials at a leading institution in South Korea.
