PhD in Mechanobiological Modeling of Bone Density in Postmenopausal Obese Women at Arts et Métiers Rabat

A fully funded PhD position is available at the Arts et Métiers Campus of Rabat within the Ecole Doctorale SMI (Sciences des Métiers de l’Ingénieur). The doctoral project, supervised by Assistant Professor Imane Ait Oumghar, focuses on developing a mechanobiological model to simulate the evolution of bone density and microarchitecture in postmenopausal obese women. The research integrates mechanical and biological factors, including hormonal and metabolic influences, to better understand bone fragility and predict bone evolution over time. The project aims to identify regions of vulnerability and propose personalized prevention strategies for women at high risk of fracture despite normal bone mineral density. Applicants should have an MSc or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Biomechanics, or a related field, with strong skills in mechanics, numerical modeling, MATLAB or Python, and finite element methods (FEM). Experience with Abaqus and UMAT development is advantageous. The position offers a monthly stipend of 9,000 MAD for 36 months and requires 120 hours of teaching service per year.
