PhD position in Geography, Transportation Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

The EcoTrans Lab at Auburn University, led by Dr. Luyu Liu, is recruiting a highly motivated PhD student to join research efforts focused on improving urban public transportation networks through advanced AI-driven solutions, big data analysis, and real-time assessment. The lab integrates data science, AI, and GIS with transportation engineering to develop sustainable, smart, and resilient urban mobility systems. The successful candidate will contribute to innovative projects that address challenges in modern cities, collaborating with experts in transportation and AI. Applicants should hold or be near completion of a Master's degree in Geography, Transportation Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, and possess strong programming skills (Python), experience with big data analysis, and preferably deep learning and reinforcement learning platforms. Advanced GIS and cartographic software skills, knowledge of transportation systems, and excellent analytical and writing abilities are required. TOEFL and GRE scores must be submitted. The position is fully funded and offers a competitive stipend, access to state-of-the-art facilities, and a dynamic interdisciplinary environment.
